In the videos, I think of it from a character’s perspective. I’ve just been pushing things more and more that way. I don’t have a gender, or I’m not even from the human race. Also, when I’m onstage, I just want to feel like a magical creature. Why would I not make the most of that? I started to really love wearing stuff that was a bit more outrageous. I could literally wear whatever I wanted, and this is the one time in life when I get to be totally crazy.

Then after a while, I realized, hang on, I’m onstage, I should be creating this moment of fantasy. Because when we first started out, I wore very normcore streetwear onstage. It’s evolved from the past two years and really touring and releasing music the way that we have been. How does the way you dress in your day-to-day life, like right now when you’re in a taxi, compare to the way you dress onstage or in music videos? It’s really changed, actually. She designed this backless two-piece, full-on crystal outfit. I have a lady who designs the custom-made outfits I sometimes wear. Also I wear this outfit that’s made of 85,000 Swarovski crystals. It’s not like a regular dance music video, though it’s pretty strange. I’ve always wanted to do a big dance number. And it’s mainly focused on a dance number, which is a dream come true for me. It was just a chance to make something that was a bit of a departure from our other videos. And then with “Meteorite,” because this song feels like a stand-alone song in a way, it’s kind of more fun. I think about the story behind the song and how I want to convey that visually, and I always want to try and surprise people and use interesting imagery. to me, it’s a really great opportunity to further your creativity. It has always been something that we’ve been super-involved with because. What’s the process of adding visuals to your music been like? Well, I’m still learning so much about the process. You also just released a spectacular music video for the song. We spoke to the rising talent over the phone about his love of Bridget Jones, backpacking through the jungle, and his thoughts on the treatment of LGBTQ people. There’s never been anything explicit or gratuitous about a Years and Years show, so yeah, I find the reaction to be quite interesting." I know a few of them said it wasn’t 'family-friendly enough'.
